Last Led, Xmas Cheer
Had a two hour led class this morning which was the last one for the year. I haven't been to a led class in a while because I don't feel as comfortable being told when to breathe, etc. Maybe I just have to learn how to go at my own pace a bit more, I don't know. Maybe I just need to attend at least one a week. I'm not struggling or anything but at times it was distracting being on my third breath when the class is counted for their fifth and vice versa. I lose my focus when this happens. But all in all the class was unreal today, the room was completely full and there was heaps of energy. When we toned "Aum/Om" the room just came alive. Like we were all in a distant place. I could sense so much light beaming in through the big windows and touching everyone. It was divine.
I have never ever in my life sweated so much as I did today. I'm serious - I was dripping consistantly throughout the practice. It was bloody awesome. It was highly frustrating and dangerous not having a mysore rug (could I make mention of it any more...LOL) and only having a small hand towel to keep my grip, but it must have looked funny.
The practice itself was really good besides losing concentration several times. I'm not used to led classes, but will do at least one a week out of 6 practices. I was able to bind in the Marichyasanas except for Marichyasana D, did an ajustment for my left leg in Ardha Baddha Padma Paschimottanasana, and was pleased with my back bending. I went up 3 times for 5 breaths and then once for 25. I didn't think I would be able to do it, but was able to.
After class most of us stayed for breakfast. Everyone brought a plate of food to share. There was so much food - heaps of fresh fruit, organic breads, some chocolates, coffee, chai, etc. It was really nice to be able to talk to people you see almost everyday but don't get the chance to.
I'm feeling on top of the world today after being at the shala. Most days I feel great but today especially. I feel like I have a bit more clarity, like something is revealing itself to me, or aspects of self are revealing more. Funny because last night I gave myself a reading with Jamie Sam's Sacred Path cards and came up in the reading. What a place to be: one of the best practices ever, weekend tomorrow (get to play my 'Storm' at Chai Hill), Xmas this weekend with the family, new yoga mat, seeing and feeling results from practice (not just physically). I'm looking forward to the new year now. I've set myself a few solid goals and am looking forward to working towards them.
I wish all my fellow Ashtangi's and their families a happy and safe Xmas :)
